PACE, Fla. — The Delta State University women’s tennis team lost to Valdosta State University 5-2 Monday at the UWF Tennis Complex.
Valdosta State claimed the doubles point with victories on courts one and three. The Lady Statesmen responded in singles play, with Trinity Ly rallying for a three-set win at No. 1, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Yasmina Mayer also secured a straight-set victory at No. 3, winning 6-3, 6-3.
The remaining courts favored Valdosta State, including a competitive three-set match at No. 4. Anastasiia Iakovlieva forced a tiebreak before falling in her match. Delta State now holds a 7-3 record overall and will face West Florida on Tuesday afternoon.
