Valdosta State tops Delta State 5-2 in men’s tennis

PENSACOLA, Fla. — The Delta State University men’s tennis team lost to Valdosta State 5-2 on Monday at the UWF Tennis Complex.

Delta State took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 courts. Valentin Greco and Valentino Millimaci teamed up for a 6-3 victory on court two, while Juan Diego Alzate and Joaquin Jarochevsky won 6-1 at No. 3.

However, Valdosta State responded strongly in singles play, winning matches on courts one, two and four in straight sets. Alejandro Bravo was the only Delta State player to secure a singles win, defeating Yohann Meunier 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5.

Three other singles matches went to three sets, including a close contest at No. 6, but the Blazers closed each to clinch the match. Delta State, now 5–5 on the season, will face the University of West Florida in its next match Tuesday.
