Tray Huguley earns sixth SLIAC men’s basketball Player of the Week award
Columbus, Miss. — William Woods University sophomore Tray Huguley has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week for the sixth time this season, the league announced. The award covers games played from Feb. 16-22.
Huguley led the Owls to a 3-0 record last week. His top performance came Saturday in an 80-60 upset of conference leader and previously unbeaten Webster University at Pohl Gym. Huguley scored 23 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and blocked four shots in the game.
Over the three games, Huguley averaged 22.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game while shooting 64% from the field. He also averaged 2.3 assists and two blocks per game. The sophomore has now recorded 16 double-doubles this season, a school record. He has scored in double figures in all 23 games played, including 16 games with 20 or more points, highlighted by a school-record 51 points against Greenville.
William Woods, seeded second in the conference tournament, will face No. 1 seed Webster in the SLIAC semifinals Thursday in St. Louis. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., and will be hosted by Webster.
