Thomasville Nighthawks top Blue Mountain Christian in SSAC series finale
The Thomas Nighthawks defeated the Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers 13-2 in the final game of their Southern States Athletic Conference series Saturday in Thomasville, Georgia.
Thomas scored four runs in the second inning and added five more in the third to build a commanding lead. The Nighthawks added another run in the fourth before the Toppers responded in the fifth inning. Cody Presley drove a single through the left side to score Gavin Foley and put Blue Mountain Christian on the board.
The Toppers added a second run in the sixth as Jake Meilstrup delivered an RBI single to center field to bring home Jarrett Morris. Presley and Meilstrup each recorded RBIs for Blue Mountain Christian, while Jacob Bryant and Foley contributed on the bases.
Benji Webb took the loss on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings with one strikeout. Christian Maness came in relief, followed by Chip Harris, who struck out two in his inning of work. Judson Griffin and Jesse Hancock also appeared in relief; Hancock threw a scoreless inning and recorded a strikeout.
Blue Mountain Christian will look to rebound as it prepares for its next conference matchup.
