Tennessee beats Mississippi State 73-64 in SEC matchup

Mississippi State lost to Tennessee 73-64 on Wednesday night at Humphrey Coliseum.

The Bulldogs, with an 11-13 record overall and 3-8 in the Southeastern Conference, faced a tough second-half deficit but made a late push. A surge that included an 18-0 run brought them within five points with just over five minutes remaining. However, Tennessee responded with a 9-0 run to seal the victory.

Josh Hubbard scored 31 points to lead all players, including four three-pointers. He tied Barry Stewart for the program record with 280 career three-pointers. Jayden Epps added nine points and five assists for the Volunteers. Mississippi State was out-rebounded 45-31 and struggled on the boards, with Tennessee holding a 15-6 edge in second-chance points.

The Bulldogs will travel to Oxford to face Ole Miss on Saturday. The game is scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN2.
