Southern Miss Women’s Tennis Match vs. New Orleans Canceled by Rain

The University of Southern Mississippi women’s tennis match against New Orleans scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at the USM Tennis Complex was canceled because of rain, according to university officials.

The Golden Eagles, with an overall record of 7-7 and a 1-2 mark in Sun Belt Conference play, were set to open a brief homestand. This would have been their first home appearance since March 7 after a series of away matches.

During their recent road stretch, Southern Miss defeated Southern 4-0 but fell to Troy 4-1, with Miranda Xu earning the team’s only point with a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles, according to team reports.

The cancellation leaves the Golden Eagles with one more home match scheduled — a contest against Tulane on Tuesday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at the USM Tennis Complex.

Southern Miss’s remaining schedule includes a match against Tulane before the season concludes, with the team aiming to improve its record heading into postseason play.
