Southern Miss Women’s Golf to Finish Regular Season at Bayou DeSiard

The University of Southern Mississippi women’s golf team is set to compete in its final regular-season tournament at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, Louisiana. The event begins Monday and spans two days, featuring 54 holes against a 14-team field.

Designed by Perry Maxwell, Bayou DeSiard is known for its undulating greens and natural geological features. The course plays as a par-72, measuring 6,156 yards over the two-day event, which includes teams from Arkansas State, Bradley, Central Arkansas, East Texas A&M, Houston Christian, Little Rock, Samford, Stephen F. Austin, ULM, Troy, UAB, UTRGV, and ULM as the host. LSU is participating with individual players.

Southern Miss is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Magnolia Collegiate and a second-place finish at the Great River Cup earlier this season. The team’s top performer at the Magnolia Collegiate was Fernanda Gorostiaga, who tied for eighth. Taylor Trible and Louise Cuyvers also finished tied for 14th, with Cuyvers maintaining a team-best average of 73.6 strokes per round.

Other key contributors include Liv Romer, who finished tied for fifth at The Judson and posted a 3-0 record at the Great River Cup, and Savannah Van Gaalen, who clinched a playoff victory at The Judson. Alma Betoret, participating in her fourth tournament, aims to improve on her season-best performance at the Great River Cup.
