Southern Miss Women’s Golf Ties for Fifth at ULM Invitational After 36 Holes
The Southern Miss women’s golf team is tied for fifth after 36 holes at the ULM Invitational held at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, Louisiana, according to the university’s athletics department.
Louise Cuyvers leads the Golden Eagles individually, sitting in eighth place with a total score of 144. She shot an even-par 72 in both rounds, including four birdies in the morning and three in the afternoon.
Senior Taylor Trible is tied for 20th after rounds of 73 and 76, finishing with a 149. She recorded four birdies during the event, including three in the first round. Savannah Van Gaalen is tied for 30th with scores of 76 and 75, totaling 151. Alma Betoret is tied for 48th after rounds of 80 and 74, with a total of 154. Betoret had four birdies, while Van Gaalen recorded one.
Liv Romer and Fernanda Gorostiaga are in 63rd and 74th places, respectively. Romer posted rounds of 82 and 76, while Gorostiaga finished with 76 and 85.
Host ULM leads the team standings by five strokes over Samford. Houston Christian, Bradley, Southern Miss, and Troy occupy the next spots, with Southern Miss and Troy tied at 20-over par. Johanna Sjursen of ULM is the top individual at 10-under par, four strokes ahead of LSU’s Ryleigh Knaub.
The final round is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday with a shotgun start at Bayou DeSiard Country Club. Fans can follow live scoring online, and the team will look to improve upon their current position.
