Southern Miss Women’s Golf Opens Spring Season at Great River Cup
The Southern Miss women’s golf team kicked off its spring schedule Monday at the Great River Cup in Gulfport, Mississippi. The two-day event at Windance Country Club features 16 teams, including Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, James Madison, Little Rock, Memphis, Missouri State, and ULM, among others.
It is the third consecutive year the Golden Eagles have participated in the event. ULM has competed in back-to-back years, in 2024 and 2025. The tournament begins with two rounds of match play on Monday, with final pairings set Tuesday based on Monday’s results.
Southern Miss’s lineup includes Taylor Trible, Louise Cuyvers, Fernanda Gorostiaga, Savannah Van Gaalen, and Liv Romer. Individual competitors Morgan Guepet and Alma Betoret are also participating.
The team is coming off a successful fall season, which included a tournament win at The Judson in late October. Trible secured the individual title in a playoff on hole 17, while Van Gaalen’s clutch putt clinched the team’s victory over Tulane. Southern Miss also won the Lady Clerico Invitational in Oklahoma, with Cuyvers finishing third overall.
Cuyvers leads the team in stroke average at 72.4 over 15 rounds in five events. Trible averages 74.4 strokes per round, and Van Gaalen posts a 75.5 average. The Golden Eagles aim to build on their momentum at the Great River Cup.
