Southern Miss Women’s Golf Finishes Ninth at ULM Invitational
The University of Southern Mississippi women’s golf team finished tied for ninth at the ULM Invitational in Monroe, Louisiana, to conclude the regular season, according to school athletics officials.
Louise Cuyvers posted a final round of even-par 72, bringing her total to 216 strokes and earning her an eighth-place finish. Taylor Trible shot a 74, including two birdies on the back nine, and tied for 21st overall.
Fernanda Gorostiaga recorded a 77, and Savannah Van Gaalen shot a 78 — both eagled the par-five 14th hole. Alma Betoret and Liv Romer each finished with an 80 in the final round. The team’s overall scores placed them ninth among the 14 teams competing.
Ul Monroe secured the team title with a 10-under-par final round, beating Samford by 15 strokes. Gabi Nicastro of Samford won the individual crown with a 10-under total, while Cuyvers was among eight golfers who finished the event without exceeding par.
Southern Miss will next compete at the Sun Belt Women’s Golf Championship starting April 20 at The Lakewood Club in Point Clear, Alabama. The Golden Eagles won the tournament last season and advanced to their first NCAA Tournament appearance.
