Southern Miss Women’s Golf Finishes Day One in Sixth Place at Magnolia Collegiate
The Southern Miss women’s golf team finished the first day of the Magnolia Collegiate in sixth place after two rounds at the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove Crossings Course in Mobile, Alabama, according to team officials. The Golden Eagles trail fifth place by four strokes.
In the opening 18 holes, Morgan Guepet shot an even-par 72, the third-lowest round of her career. She was tied for third after her round, helping Southern Miss to a team score of 17-over 305, which tied them with Stetson. Taylor Trible contributed with a two-over 74, including two birdies, while Liv Romer shot a four-over 76.
Louise Cuyvers added a five-over 77, with only one bogey on the front nine. Fernanda Gorostiaga and Savannah Van Gaalen posted 78 and 80, respectively, in the first round. The team finished the first 18 holes tied for fifth place, behind leaders Lipscomb and West Georgia.
During the second round, Gorostiaga and Van Gaalen both carded three-over 75s. Cuyvers shot a four-over 76, with two birdies, to help her tie for 24th. The team added a 16-over 304 in the afternoon, with Betoret (77), Trible (78), and Romer (78) completing the lineup.
Overall, Southern Miss recorded 19 total birdies through the day, with Romer and Trible each tallying four. The tournament’s final round is scheduled for Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., with a potential delay due to frost.
