Southern Miss to Host James Madison in Saturday Matinee at The Greenhouse

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss welcomes James Madison to Reed Green Coliseum on Saturday for a Sun Belt Conference matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. Central Time, with the game broadcast on ESPN+ and the Southern Miss Radio Network, according to university officials.

The Golden Eagles are 11-12 overall and 5-6 in league play, aiming to break a five-game losing streak. They have lost four consecutive road games to Troy, Texas State, Georgia State, and Coastal Carolina, and recently fell at home to Appalachian State.

Southern Miss has shown resilience this season. The team limited turnovers to a season-low seven in a Jan. 24 game at Coastal Carolina. Tylik Weeks leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.8 points per game, and recorded his first career double-double against Ole Miss. Weeks was named Sun Belt Player of the Week after earning MVP honors at the Pensacola Invitational, where he scored 37 points in a win over North Florida.

James Madison enters the game with an 11-11 record, including a 4-6 mark in Sun Belt road games. The Dukes recently defeated first-place Troy on the road. Cliff Davis scored 23 points in that game, with Ricks and Bradley Douglas also reaching double figures. JMU is ranked among the top three in the conference in blocks per game, effective field goal percentage, and three-point shooting.

This will be the fourth-ever meeting between the teams. James Madison won the last matchup, 83-72, in Harrisonburg last season. Southern Miss previously beat the Dukes 83-70 in 2023. The series resumed this season after JMU’s return to the Sun Belt last year.

Southern Miss has been strong at home, posting a 41-11 record at The Greenhouse since 2022. The team is 7-0 in home openers under head coach Jay Ladner. Fans can attend the game or follow coverage via live stats, radio, and streaming options provided by the university.
