Southern Miss Pair Laurel Dennis and Sadie McAda Named Sun Belt Beach Volleyball Team of the Week

NEW ORLEANS — Laurel Dennis and Sadie McAda of Southern Mississippi have been named the Sun Belt Conference Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week, the league announced Monday. The duo posted a 3-1 record during the opening week at the Third Coast Challenge.

Playing as the Golden Eagles’ top pairing for the first time since 2024, Dennis and McAda secured a three-set victory over Saint Mary’s and contributed to Southern Miss’s first win of the season by sweeping Tarleton State. Their only loss came against the top pairing from No. 3 Cal Poly, but they rebounded with a two-set victory over Houston Christian to finish the weekend.

The pair entered the season with a combined career record of 38-37 and have played together in every dual since joining the team in 2024. Their current record is 41-38 overall and 8-10 as the No. 1 pairing. Last season, they posted a 22-17 record, playing in all 39 matches at the second position. They also hold a 32-29 record at the second pairing and are 1-1 at the third.

Last season, Dennis and McAda became the first Southern Miss pair to win 35 or more matches in a season. They are expected to continue breaking their own records as the season progresses, according to team statistics and league sources.
