Southern Miss Men’s Tennis to Face South Alabama in Mobile on Sunday
The University of Southern Mississippi men’s tennis team is set to play South Alabama on Sunday in Mobile. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts, according to school officials.
Southern Miss enters the contest with a 7-7 record overall and a 1-1 mark in Sun Belt Conference play. The Golden Eagles recently completed a three-match swing in San Antonio, opening with a 4-2 victory over UIW before falling to UTSA and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The team’s win over UIW was highlighted by singles victories from Saheb Sodhi, Eric Perkowski, Olle Noltorp, and Jay Temming, after dropping the doubles point.
The matchup against South Alabama holds significance early in the conference season. Southern Miss is 1-1 in league play, while the Jaguars are 2-2. Last season, Southern Miss defeated South Alabama 4-3 in Mobile after trailing 3-1, marking a notable road win in conference play. The Golden Eagles hope to carry that momentum into Sunday’s match.
South Alabama enters the game after a 4-0 loss to Samford on Friday but has been competitive within the league. The team will play on its home courts in front of its fans.
