The University of Southern Mississippi men’s basketball team will host Troy on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg. The game is part of Super Saturday activities and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Southern Miss Radio Network, with John Cox calling the action.

Key players for Southern Miss include Tylik Weeks, who recently moved into seventh place all-time in single-season free throws made with 155, and Djahi Binet, who was named Sun Belt Player of the Week on Feb. 10 after averaging 24 points and 11 rebounds in recent games. Binet also posted the first 30-point, 15-rebound game in the Sun Belt this season.

Southern Miss leads the all-time series against Troy 18-5, with the Trojans winning the last three meetings. Troy took the first game of the season, 91-65, in Troy. The teams will meet for the 24th time overall and second time this season at Reed Green Coliseum.

The Golden Eagles have been strong at home, posting a 43-12 record at Reed Green since the 2022-23 season. They also hold a perfect 7-0 record in home openers under head coach Jay Ladner. Southern Miss is also celebrating its 106th season of basketball in 2025-26, with the program dating back to the 1919-20 season. The team has shown strong free-throw shooting this season, making at least 20 free throws in 10 games, including a season-high 27 in a win at Radford.

Saturday’s game marks the 23rd Valentine’s Day game for Southern Miss, which has a 12-10 record when playing on Feb. 14. The last victory on this date was against UTSA in 2019.

Among the team’s veteran players is Curt Lewis, one of the oldest Division I players, born May 19, 1999. The Golden Eagles’ non-conference schedule included notable away games at South Carolina, Miami, LSU, and Ole Miss.
