NEW ORLEANS — Southern Mississippi graduate student guard Jakayla Johnson was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

The Clinton, Mississippi, native played in all 30 games during her first season with the Lady Eagles. She led Southern Miss with an average of 15.3 points per game, 41 steals and a 37.4% three-point shooting percentage.

Johnson scored in double figures in 23 contests, including three games with at least 30 points. Her season high was 32 points in the regular-season finale against ULM. She was also named to the Sun Belt preseason First Team for the second time in her career.

This marks Johnson’s third all-conference honor in three years. She earned First Team honors last season and Third Team recognition in 2024. Johnson and the Lady Eagles will open the Sun Belt tournament on March 5 in Pensacola, Florida, against an opponent to be determined.
