Southern Miss Beach Volleyball’s Lewis and Michalska Named Sun Belt Pair of the Week

NEW ORLEANS — Southern Miss’ second-flight beach volleyball pairing of Abby Lewis and Zuzanna Michalska has been named the Sun Belt Conference’s Pair of the Week, the league announced Monday.

The duo has been a key part of the Golden Eagles’ lineup this season, posting a 4-4 record over eight duals. They went 2-2 at the Tiger Beach Challenge, highlighted by wins over No. 12 LSU and No. 18 Washington.

Lewis and Michalska opened the tournament with a straight-set victory over LSU’s No. 2 pair, winning 21-14 and 21-17. They then fell in three sets to North Alabama, dropping the deciding set 15-13. The pair bounced back with a dominant 21-11 win over Washington before losing to Tulane in a two-set match by a combined eight points.

This is the second weekly honor for a Southern Miss pair this season, following Laurel Dennis and Sadie McAda’s selection last week. The Golden Eagles will next compete in the Sun Devil Classic in Tempe, Arizona, starting March 6 against Stephen F. Austin.
