Southern Miss Beach Volleyball Sweeps Opening Day of Spring Break Slam

The University of Southern Mississippi beach volleyball team swept its first day of the Spring Break Slam on Friday at the Southern Miss Beach Volleyball Complex. The Golden Eagles earned 5-0 victories in both matches, dropping just one set across the day, and now hold a 5-14 record this season.

Southern Miss opened with a dominant win over Spring Hill College, extending its winning streak over the Badgers to nine matches. The Golden Eagles have won 12 of 19 all-time meetings against Spring Hill and are 8-4 at home in the series. The team won every set by at least four points, finishing 10-0 in sets for the match.

In the first dual, Laurel Dennis and Sadie McAda led the way with a sweep in the top flight. Jaden White and Kitija Martini Adamsone followed with a quick two-set victory, clinching the team win. Y-Nho Do and Iustina Corcoz also secured a win, as did Ryann Thomas and Margarita Grigoreva, making it a clean sweep.

Later in the day, Southern Miss continued its winning streak by sweeping ULM in a dual that featured a tight first set from Dennis and McAda, who ultimately won 21-23, 21-19, 15-10. The Golden Eagles’ top pairing of Dennis and McAda dropped only one set all day, maintaining a perfect record in duals this season.

Southern Miss will conclude the tournament Saturday with matches against ULM at 11:15 a.m. and Spring Hill at 1:30 p.m., with senior celebrations scheduled after the final dual, according to the university.
