Southern Miss Beach Volleyball Splits Final Day at FSU Challenge
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Southern Miss beach volleyball wrapped up its weekend at the FSU Challenge with a 3-2 victory over Jacksonville and a 5-0 loss to fifth-ranked Florida State, according to match results provided by the school.
The Golden Eagles (12-17, 3-1 Sun Belt) opened the day with a narrow win over Jacksonville, earning the dual after dropping their previous match to the Dolphins. Southern Miss secured the win with a five-set battle, with Jaden White and Margarita Grigoreva securing the clinching point in the fifth flight.
Later, the team faced Florida State, which took four of the five matches in straight sets. The Seminoles, ranked No. 5 nationally, dominated the dual at the Seminole Beach Volleyball Courts. The only close contest involved Zuzanna Michalska and Abby Lewis, who pushed their match to a third set after winning the first set 21-19.
Southern Miss will have a week off before concluding their regular season at the NOLA Classic hosted by Tulane in Elmwood, Louisiana.
Florida State improved to 24-2 overall and 6-1 in Big 12 play, while Southern Miss remains in the Sun Belt with a 3-1 conference record. The Golden Eagles now prepare for their final tournament of the season, aiming to strengthen their postseason resume.
