Southern Miss Beach Volleyball Falls to Washington and Tulane at Tiger Beach Challenge

BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern Miss beach volleyball concluded its two-day run at the Tiger Beach Challenge with two narrow losses, according to the university’s athletics department.

The Golden Eagles lost 3-2 to No. 18 Washington and 3-2 to Tulane. Southern Miss finished the event with a 2-6 record.

In the first match, Southern Miss faced Washington in a close dual. The Huskies took the first two points at the fourth and fifth pairs before the Golden Eagles’ No. 2 duo of Zuzanna Michalska and Abby Lewis earned the team’s first point. Washington secured the dual with a win at the third pairing, but Sadie McAda and Laurel Dennis defeated Washington’s top pair, giving Southern Miss a 3-2 overall score.

Later, Southern Miss played Tulane, seeking its first victory over the Green Wave. Tulane swept the first two flights, but Dennis and McAda earned a straight-set win at the top flight. Jaden White and Kitija Martini Adamsone added another point for the Golden Eagles at the second flight, but Tulane clinched the match with a win at the third pairing, ending the dual at 3-2.

Southern Miss will next compete at the Sun Devil Classic in Tempe, Arizona, starting March 6. The team will face Stephen F. Austin, Nebraska, and No. 20 Arizona during the tournament, concluding against host and No. 9 Arizona State.
