Southern Miss baseball game against UC Santa Barbara rescheduled due to weather
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The final game of the series between Southern Mississippi and UC Santa Barbara has been delayed two hours because of forecasted storms, according to university officials.
The game, originally scheduled for 1 p.m., will now start at 3 p.m. Sunday at Pete Taylor Park, Hill Denson Field. The series is the rubber match after the Gauchos won Friday’s opener 5-1. Southern Miss responded with an 8-6 victory Saturday.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and can also be heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network, officials said.
Weather conditions prompted the delay, but teams will still compete for the series victory Sunday. The teams split the first two games of the series.
Southern Miss is opening its 98th season of baseball, and the series against UC Santa Barbara marks its early-season schedule.
