Santodomingo Breaks 3-Meter Diving Record at NSISC Championships
PENSACOLA, Fla. — Santiago Santodomingo of Delta State University set a new conference record in 3-meter diving at the NSISC Championships on Friday night. His score of 596.10 earned him the conference title and helped the team move into third place with 713.5 points entering the final day.
Senior Ryan Whaley finished fourth in diving, while teammates Bryon Croom and Jake Bigler contributed additional points. In the pool, senior Mateus Franco led a strong showing in the 500-yard freestyle, winning in 4:24.00—an NCAA invite time—and capturing the conference title. Junior Austin Huffhines added a sixth-place finish in 4:38.12.
Delta State continued to add points in the 100-yard breaststroke, with sophomore Jacob Hamblen finishing second in 54.37 seconds, a NCAA B consideration time. Senior Neill Mauss (55.36) and junior Ethan Baylin (55.39) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the 200-yard butterfly, sophomore Kacper Mochnal posted one of the fastest swims in program history, winning with an NCAA invite time of 1:45.82. Sophomore Alessandro Giustolisi (1:56.20) and Carter Foster (1:58.58) also scored in the consolation finals.
The team closed the night with a third-place finish in the 4×50-yard freestyle relay, with Ethan Baylin, Jacob Hamblen, Lars Hetzel, and Austin Huffhines finishing in 1:21.60. With their performances, Delta State remains in the hunt for the championship on the final day.
