Sam Houston Women’s Tennis Sweeps Alcorn at Vicksburg
Vicksburg, Miss. — Sam Houston’s women’s tennis team swept Alcorn 7-0 Friday in a non-conference match at Hall’s Ferry Tennis Court.
The Bearkats (1-7) opened with a doubles victory, as Sara Sadadinovic and Ella Fitcher defeated Taylor Briffa and Natalija Nikolic 6-1. They secured the doubles point with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles, featuring Nayuma Subba and Christine Jevicky against Zoe Crimmel and Oihane Villanueva Lopez. Sam Houston completed the sweep with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles from Aaliyah Hohmann and Anamaria Kurtsikashvili over Alcorn’s freshmen Hana Bajramovic and Amelia Tatafu.
In singles, Bajramovic won her opening set 6-4 but lost the match to Kurtsikashvili in three sets. Subba led with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory over Tatafu at No. 1 singles. Jevicky posted a 6-1, 6-0 win against Crimmel, and Sadadinovic defeated Villanueva Lopez 6-0, 6-3. Hohmann topped Nikolic 6-1, 6-2, and Fitcher secured the final point with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Briffa.
