Reasner Sets Single-Game RBI Record as Ole Miss Softball Defeats Memphis 10-0
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Ole Miss softball pitcher Lilly Whitten threw a complete game shutout, and Cassie Reasner set a school record with seven RBIs as the Rebels defeated Memphis 10-0 Tuesday at the Tigers Softball Complex.
Reasner also hit two home runs in the game, including a three-run shot in the fifth inning that helped break the game open. Her seven RBIs broke the previous single-game record held by former Rebel players, according to team sources.
The game was slow to start, with both teams held scoreless through the first two innings. Whitten was dominant early, holding Memphis hitless through 3.2 innings and striking out six batters in total.
Ole Miss took control in the third inning. After a walk and singles from Mackenzie Pickens, Madi George, and Persy Llamas, Reasner’s sacrifice fly gave the Rebels a 1-0 lead. In the fourth, Ryan Starr and Kennedy Bunker doubled to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Rebels broke the game open in the fifth. Llamas and George each singled before Reasner homered, pushing the lead to 5-0. Taylor Roman then hit a solo shot off the bench, increasing the lead to 6-0. Ole Miss added four more runs in the seventh, highlighted by Reasner’s second home run of the night, before Whitten finished with six strikeouts and the shutout.
Ole Miss (24-15, 2-10 SEC) will next face Central Arkansas on Wednesday at 5 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on ESPN Plus, according to team officials.
