Owls Women’s Basketball Honors Seniors in Final Game of Season
The Mississippi University for Women women’s basketball team wrapped up its 2025-26 season with a 68-53 loss to Webster University, the leader in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The game marked the final appearance for seniors Mia Bowen, Calysia Phillips, and Conley Langford, who were honored in a ceremony before the game.
MUW finished the season with an 8-16 overall record and a 5-11 mark in the SLIAC. Despite the team’s struggles, the seniors’ accomplishments highlighted the year. Bowen, a transfer from Arkansas-Little Rock, led the team with an average of 17.6 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, earning a double-double in her final contest. She set school records for blocks in a game (10), season (100), and career (100), and was second nationally in total blocks entering Saturday. She added six blocks against Webster, finishing with 13 points and 14 rebounds, her 13th double-double of the season.
Phillips, a second-team all-SLIAC selection last year, completed her two seasons at MUW despite missing parts of her junior year due to injury. She scored six points and grabbed four rebounds in her final game. Langford, a two-time all-SLIAC pick, finished her career as the school’s all-time leader in points (1,524) and rebounds (704). In her last game, she scored 12 points, pulled down four rebounds, and made her trademark three-pointer on three attempts.
Freshman guard Jakayla Smith also made an impact, scoring 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 2-for-3 from three-point range. The New Hope High School product demonstrated her potential for the future of the program.
