Owls’ Huguley earns SLIAC Player of the Week for fourth time this season
Columbus, Miss. — Mississippi University for Women forward Tray Huguley has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, the conference announced Monday.
Huguley, a sophomore transfer from Saks, Alabama, helped the Owls extend their winning streak to six games and remain in second place in the conference standings. During the week of Jan. 12-18, he averaged a double-double with 22 points and 18.5 rebounds per game, along with 5.5 assists and 1.5 steals.
The 6-foot-6 forward shot 60% from the field, going 18-for-30 for the week. He set a school record with 22 rebounds in a win Tuesday against Southeastern Baptist College, surpassing his previous mark of 20. Huguley also extended his streak of consecutive double-double games to five and has 10 for the season.
Huguley has scored in double figures in all 14 games he has played this season, including nine games with 20 or more points. He is averaging 22.5 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. His shooting percentage for the season stands at 63.7%, with a free throw percentage of 75.5%, according to MUW athletics.
