Ole Miss’s Cotie McMahon Named Regional Finalist for WBCA All-America Team

Cotie McMahon of Ole Miss women’s basketball has been selected as a regional finalist for the WBCA Coaches’ All-America Team, the organization announced Wednesday.

The Dayton, Ohio, native has earned multiple national honors this season, including spots on the Cheryl Miller Final Five list, the Wooden Award National Ballot, and the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Late-Season Team. She also received 25 individual awards, according to the university.

McMahon was named SEC Newcomer of the Year and earned first-team All-SEC honors. She has averaged 19.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and three assists per game in her first season at Ole Miss, shooting 45.1% from the field. During SEC play, her averages increased to 21.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.

With 675 points this season, McMahon has scored the fifth-most points in a single season by a Rebel. She has also scored 20 or more points in 19 games, tying Bianca Thomas’s 2009-10 record for most 20-point games in a season in program history.

The senior will help lead the fifth-seeded Rebels into the NCAA Tournament, facing 12th-seeded Gonzaga in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The game is scheduled for Friday, March 20, at 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
