Ole Miss Women’s Tennis wins both matches in doubleheader weekend

OXFORD, Miss. — The No. 37 Ole Miss women’s tennis team won both matches of its weekend doubleheader at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center on Saturday.

The Rebels defeated Missouri 4-1 and then swept Missouri State 4-0. Ole Miss improved to 9-7 overall and 3-6 in Southeastern Conference play.

In the opening match against Missouri, Ole Miss claimed the doubles point quickly with wins from Alice Soulié and Riley Crowder, and Beatrice Stagno and Brooklyn Olson. Olson left her singles match due to injury, giving Missouri its sole point. Ole Miss’s Emily Welker and Crowder secured singles victories, with Welker beating Roso and Crowder defeating Artimedi. Nova clinched the match with a win over Lara Quaglia.

Later that evening, Ole Miss continued its winning streak against Missouri State. The Rebels secured the doubles point, then swept all three completed singles matches. Beatrice Stagno, Ichino Horikawa, and Soulié each won their singles matches convincingly. The final three singles courts remained unfinished as Ole Miss sealed the sweep.

The team will return to action Friday, March 27, hosting No. 5 Texas A&M at 3 p.m. CT. Ole Miss’s next matches include contests against Texas and Mississippi State in April, leading up to the SEC tournament.
