Ole Miss Women’s Tennis Heads to Oklahoma and Arkansas for Weekend Matches

Ole Miss women’s tennis is traveling this weekend to compete against No. 10 Oklahoma and No. 49 Arkansas as part of its Southeastern Conference schedule. The Rebels, currently 6-5 overall and 1-4 in SEC play, seek to end a four-match losing streak.

The team will face Oklahoma on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman. Oklahoma boasts a 12-4 record overall and has defeated two top-10 opponents this season, including No. 9 Stanford and No. 7 Tennessee. The Sooners feature three ranked singles players and multiple ranked doubles pairs, led by Julia Garcia Ruiz (No. 30) and Roisin Gilheany and Gloriana Nahum in doubles.

Following the match in Norman, Ole Miss will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for a Sunday contest against the Razorbacks at 12 p.m. at the Billingsley Tennis Center. Arkansas is 10-5 overall and 1-4 in SEC play, with one ranked singles player, Carolina Gomez Alonso (No. 23), and a ranked doubles team with Anet Koskel and Gomez Alonso (No. 22).

The Rebels features several key players, including Riley Crowder, a top-100 recruit and the highest-ranked freshman in Alabama, and senior Ichino Horikawa, who scored the deciding point in Ole Miss’ upset of No. 4 LSU last season. Other notable players include junior Andrea Nova and sophomore Brooklyn Olson, who has a 10-8 singles record this season.

Ole Miss aims to improve its conference standings with these upcoming matches, seeking victories against top-ranked opponents and maintaining its competitive edge in SEC play.
