Ole Miss Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 12 Vanderbilt 5-2 on Road

The Ole Miss women’s tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to No. 12 Vanderbilt on Thursday at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center in Nashville, Tennessee, according to the university’s athletics department.

Vanderbilt secured the doubles point by winning on courts one and two, despite Ole Miss’s victory on court three with a 6-2 win from Brooklyn Olson and Beatrice Stagno over Sophia Webster and Sonya Macavei.

In singles play, Olson defeated No. 93 Mia Yamakita in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, to earn a ranked win and cut the deficit to 3-1. Vanderbilt clinched the match on court four when Trinetra Vijayakumar defeated Andrea Nova in three sets, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3.

Ole Miss’s Riley Crowder won her singles match against Erin Pearce, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5), to finish the match on a positive note. The Rebels are scheduled to return home Saturday to face Missouri at 1 p.m. at the Palmer Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center, according to the schedule.

The Rebels, now with an overall record of 15-7, continue their season with upcoming matches against Arkansas, Oklahoma, and SEC tournament play, as per the team’s schedule.
