Ole Miss Women’s Tennis Ends Regular Season with 4-0 Win at Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky. — No. 38 Ole Miss Women’s Tennis defeated Kentucky 4-0 on Saturday at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex. The victory marked the end of the Rebels’ regular season.
Ole Miss (14-10, 6-9 SEC) clinched the match early, leading 3-0 before junior Andrea Nova defeated Elena Molla 6-0, 6-3, to seal the win for the Rebels.
The Rebels took the doubles point with two 6-1 wins. No. 13 Nova and Emily Welker beat No. 57 Reese Sager and Asuncion Jadue. Riley Crowder and Alice Soulié defeated Julia Zhu and Donna Le Roux shortly after.
In singles, No. 18 Welker secured the second point for Ole Miss with a 6-2, 6-1 win over No. 73 Zoe Hammond. Beatrice Stagno then won her match 6-2, 6-1 against Ellie Myers, setting up Nova’s clinching victory.
The remaining singles matches were unfinished. No. 99 Zhu had just won her first set, and other matches were close or in progress. The team now prepares to compete in the SEC Tournament in Norman, Oklahoma, from April 15-19. Opponents will be announced Sunday.
