Ole Miss Women’s Tennis ends home season with wins on Senior Day
OXFORD, Miss. — The University of Mississippi women’s tennis team capped its home schedule with two wins Tuesday at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center. The Rebels, ranked No. 45, defeated Mississippi Valley State 7-0 and topped Memphis 4-0.
In the first match, Ole Miss used a forfeit to secure the doubles point after the Delta Devils fielded only five players. Emily Welker and Alice Soulié won their doubles match 6-0, as did Riley Crowder and Brooklyn Olson. Ole Miss then swept singles with Welker, Soulié, Olson, Crowder, and Beatrice Stagno all winning 6-0, 6-0.
Later in the day, Ole Miss celebrated seniors Welker and Emma Kette before facing Memphis. The Tigers again forfeited a court, allowing the Rebels to clinch the doubles point with a 6-4 win by Welker and Andrea Nova. Ole Miss quickly secured the match in singles, with Welker earning her final home victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Crowder and Olson also secured wins, and the Rebels finished with a 4-0 victory.
Ole Miss, now on a four-match win streak, will conclude the regular season on the road. The Rebels are scheduled to face No. 19 Tennessee on Thursday at 4 p.m. and Kentucky on Saturday at 12 p.m., before competing in the SEC tournament.
