Ole Miss Women’s Tennis earns first win under coach Grant Roberts with 7-0 victory over Campbell
LYNCHBURG, N.C. — Ole Miss women’s tennis defeated Campbell University 7-0 Friday afternoon at the Cary Tennis Center. It was the Rebels’ season opener and the first career win for head coach Grant Roberts, according to university officials.
The Rebels (1-0) started strong in doubles play. No. 58 Andrea Nova and Emily Welker defeated Sonia Pieczynska and Sandra Mari Marti 6-1. Alice Soulié and Riley Crowder, playing together for the first time, also won 6-1 against Mollie Garcia and Hayley Glen. Brooklyn Olson and Ichino Horikawa completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 victory over Veronika Prospalova and Aubrey Carroll.
In singles, Crowder earned the first win, defeating Ilouna Aneca 6-0, 6-0. Soulié followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Mari Marti. Nova secured the match for Ole Miss with a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Carroll. The Rebels continued to play all singles matches, with Welker beating Mollie Garcia 6-1, 6-1, and Olson winning her match 7-5, 6-0. Horikawa closed out the day with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Hayley Glen, completing the sweep.
Ole Miss remains in North Carolina to compete in the ITA Kickoff weekend, with upcoming matches against Florida on Sunday and either North Carolina State or Boise State on Monday, according to the team’s schedule.
