Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Star Cotie McMahon Finalist for 2026 Gillom Trophy
Ole Miss women’s basketball player Cotie McMahon has been named a finalist for the 2026 Gillom Trophy, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame announced Tuesday. The award recognizes the most outstanding women’s basketball player in Mississippi.
The winner will be announced at a luncheon at the Golden Moon Casino in Choctaw on April 15 at 11:30 a.m. CT. McMahon joins finalists Madison Francis from Mississippi State and Jakayla Johnson of Southern Miss.
The Gillom Trophy has been awarded annually since 2008 in honor of Ole Miss legend Peggie Gillom-Granderson. Ole Miss players have won four of the last five awards, including Shakira Austin in 2021 and 2022, Angel Baker in 2023, and Madison Scott in 2025.
McMahon has received national recognition this season, earning spots on the Cheryl Miller Final Five list, the Wooden Award National Ballot, and the WBCA Regional Finalist list. The Dayton, Ohio, native was also named SEC Newcomer of the Year and earned First Team All-SEC honors.
In her first season at Ole Miss, McMahon has averaged 19.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, and three assists per game, with notable performances during SEC play. She scored 703 points in total, the fourth-most in program history, and recorded 34 double-digit scoring games, surpassing Gillom-Granderson herself for most in a single season by a Rebel.
