Ole Miss Women’s Basketball earns fifth straight NCAA Tournament bid
Ole Miss women’s basketball has earned its fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament bid, the school announced Sunday. The Rebels, ranked No. 5 in their region, will open tournament play on March 20 in Minneapolis, facing No. 12 Gonzaga.
The team holds a 23-11 overall record for the season and went 8-0 in SEC play. Ole Miss achieved three top-five wins for the first time in program history and reached the SEC Tournament semifinals for the fourth time in five years, according to the university.
Head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin, now in her eighth year, has overseen a period of significant development. Key player Cotie McMahon was named SEC Newcomer of the Year and earned a spot on the All-SEC First Team. The team’s success underscores its status as a national contender, with a history of 12 Sweet Sixteen appearances and five Elite Eights in its 51-year history.
The NCAA Tournament appearance marks the 22nd in program history. If Ole Miss advances past the first round, it will face either No. 4 Minnesota or No. 13 Green Bay. Tournament ticket details will be announced after the selection show, which aired Sunday night.
Fans can follow the team on social media platforms including X, Facebook, and Instagram, and coach McPhee-McCuin’s account for updates as the Rebels compete for a championship.
