Ole Miss Track & Field’s Odeluga and Robinson-O’Hagan Win USTFCCCA South Region Awards
NEW ORLEANS — Ole Miss track and field athletes Akaoma Odeluga and Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan have been named South Region Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced Thursday.
Odeluga is the fourth Rebel woman to earn the award for the indoor season, joining Brittney Reese, Raven Saunders, and Jalani Davis. She also received SEC Women’s Field Athlete of the Year honors and shared the SEC Cliff Harper Trophy after winning two conference silver medals. At the NCAA Indoor Championships last week, Odeluga scored her first NCAA points, finishing as the runner-up in the shot put and fourth in the weight throw. Her shot put distance of 18.69 meters (61-4) moved her to 13th in collegiate history indoors. She enters the 2026 outdoor season as one of only two women in collegiate history to surpass 62 feet in the shot and 210 feet in the hammer.
Robinson-O’Hagan secured his third consecutive SEC Men’s Field Athlete of the Year award and the SEC Cliff Harper Trophy, after winning his third straight indoor national title in the shot put and finishing third in the weight throw. His performance scored all 16 of Ole Miss’ points at the national meet. Robinson-O’Hagan’s three-peat makes him one of only three Division I men to win three consecutive indoor shot put titles, joining Kansas’ Karl Salb, UTEP’s Hans Hoglund, and Arizona State’s Ryan Whiting. He ended his indoor career at Ole Miss with three national titles, seven First-Team All-America honors, and 50 NCAA Indoor points.
The Rebels open their outdoor season with the Ole Miss Classic on March 20-21 at Prefontaine Stadium. The team aims to continue its success as these athletes continue to shine nationally.
