Ole Miss Track & Field Concludes Strong Weekend at LSU’s Battle on the Bayou

BATON ROUGE, La. — Ole Miss track and field wrapped up a busy weekend at LSU’s Battle on the Bayou, highlighted by standout performances on Saturday. Four-time NCAA shot put champion Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan extended his lead on the collegiate outdoor season lists after winning the men’s shot put with a season-best throw of 20.81 meters (68-3.25).

Robinson-O’Hagan fouled his first two attempts but made the final and surpassed his previous best, ranking him fourth worldwide in the 2026 outdoor season, according to the school. Junior Akaoma Odeluga won the women’s shot put with a mark of 16.65 meters (54-7.50). In the triple jump, junior Sterling Scott made his outdoor debut with a second-place finish at 15.90 meters (52-2.25), moving into the top 10 all-time at Ole Miss.

Ole Miss’s sprint relay teams also delivered impressive performances. The men’s 4×100-meter relay team of Dekell Minor, Jordan Urrutia, Tarique Wright, and Joshua Knox clocked 39.18 seconds, the third-fastest in school history. The women’s 4×100 relay of Royanah Farmer, Patchnalie Compere, Zion Lockette, and Myla Reed finished in 44.54 seconds, season-best and eighth in school history.

In individual sprints, Knox ran the fastest 400 meters for Ole Miss since 1999, finishing in a PR 46.14 seconds. Urrutia also set a personal record at 46.22 seconds. Minor and Compere posted strong 100-meter dash performances, with Minor finishing fifth in 10.14 seconds, ranking sixth all-time at Ole Miss, and Compere making her collegiate debut at 11.35 seconds.

Other notable performances included Max Armstrong’s first sub-1:47 in the 800-meter, clocking 1:46.98, and Carson Turner finishing in 1:47.75. The team will host the Joe Walker Invite on April 10-11 at Prefontaine Stadium.
