Ole Miss Track and Field Concludes Strong Performance at New Mexico Classic

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Ole Miss track and field finished its competition at the New Mexico Classic on Saturday, highlighting several standout performances across sprints and multi-events.

Senior Alicia Burnett made her debut in the 60-meter dash for the Rebels, running 7.35 seconds in the preliminaries and improving to 7.26 in the semifinals. Her times rank her as the No. 4 performer in Ole Miss history, according to meet organizers.

Junior Royanah Farmer advanced to the semifinals for the third consecutive meet, clocking a time of 7.34 seconds. Freshman Patchnalie Compere also advanced, recording a career-best 7.46 seconds in the prelims. In the men’s 60-meter, junior Dekell Minor posted the fastest Ole Miss time of 6.73 seconds in the prelims but scratched from the semifinals.

Jordan Urrutia, a sophomore, achieved two career-best times in the 60-meter dash, posting 6.78 seconds in the prelims and 6.74 seconds in the semifinals. His semifinal time ranks him 10th in Ole Miss history. Fellow sophomore Tarique Wright also set a personal record with a 6.76-second semifinal run, placing him 11th all-time at Ole Miss.

In the 400-meter dash, Wesley Todd ran 46.93 seconds, tying for eighth on Ole Miss’s all-time indoor list, while Joshua Knox finished in 47.21 seconds, tying him for 13th. Freshman Jordan Rochester ran 8.68 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, placing her 13th in school history.

In multi-events, William Numnum recorded 4,848 points in the heptathlon, the second-highest total in Ole Miss history. He set personal records in six of the seven events, falling just 113 points shy of Peyton Moss’s 2013 record. Additionally, Logan Kelley cleared 5.30 meters (17-4.5) in the pole vault, and Kyle Johnson jumped 15.34 meters (50-4) in the triple jump, both finishing fifth in their respective events.

The Rebels will split their squad next week, with teams competing at Vanderbilt’s Music City Challenge and Arkansas’s Tyson Invitational on Feb. 13-14, according to team officials.
