Ole Miss Softball’s Persy Llamas Named to All-SEC Preseason Team
Ole Miss softball player Persy Llamas has been named to the All-SEC Preseason Team, the Southeastern Conference announced Thursday.
Llamas is one of only six true sophomores and eight sophomores overall to make the 21-player list. The Eastvale, California, native gained national attention as a freshman, helping lead the Rebels to the Women’s College World Series.
During her debut season, Llamas hit .354 with 10 home runs and 55 RBIs, striking out only 11 times. Her 55 RBIs tied her with teammate Aliyah Binford for the Ole Miss single-season record. She was named to the All-SEC Second Team and the NFCA All-South Region Second Team.
The Rebels were picked to finish 13th in the SEC preseason poll. Defending national champion Texas was selected to win the conference.
Ole Miss opens its season on Feb. 5 with a doubleheader at Cal State Fullerton, kicking off the Easton Classic. The doubleheader begins at 7 p.m. CT. Fans are encouraged to join Rebel Rewards, the university’s loyalty program, to earn points for attending games and events.
