Ole Miss Softball Uses Power Hitting to Defeat Louisiana Tech 5-1
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss softball secured a 5-1 win over Louisiana Tech on Wednesday night at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium. The Rebels (20-11) launched three home runs in the contest, backed by a strong performance from pitcher Emilee Boyer, who recorded nine strikeouts in a complete game.
Boyer set the tone early, striking out four consecutive Bulldogs to start the game. Her offense supported her in the second inning with a double from Cassie Reasner and a home run from Taylor Roman, giving Ole Miss a 2-0 lead. Kennedy Bunker added a solo shot in the third inning, extending the lead to 3-0. Mackenzie Pickens reached on an error, and Madi George hit her team-leading ninth home run to make it 5-0.
Boyer continued to dominate, adding two more strikeouts in the fourth inning. Louisiana Tech managed a solo home run in the fifth, but Boyer responded with groundouts to escape the inning. She finished the game with nine strikeouts, allowing just four hits and one run.
The Rebels now prepare for a three-game series against No. 4 Oklahoma, beginning Saturday at 2 p.m. CT, streamed via SEC Network Plus.
