Ole Miss softball sweeps UT Martin in doubleheader at home

OXFORD, Miss. — The Ole Miss softball team defeated UT Martin in both games of a doubleheader Tuesday at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium. The Rebels (18-5) won the first game 12-4 in six innings and secured a 10-0 victory in the second game, both by run rule.

In the opener, Ole Miss exploded for seven runs in the first inning. Kyra Aycock pitched effectively, and the Rebels capitalized on Skyhawk errors and timely hits. Cassie Reasner drove in three runs, and Persy Llamas added two RBIs. The Rebels scored nine runs through the third inning and maintained their lead to finish the game early.

The second game saw Ole Miss jump out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first inning, with home runs from Llamas and Grace Thompson. Lilly Whitten pitched a perfect game into the fourth inning and finished with a season-high seven strikeouts in five innings. The Rebels added four more runs in the third to seal the shutout. The victories improve Ole Miss’s home record to 8-0 and mark their first SEC series of the season, which begins Friday against Alabama.

Ole Miss will host Alabama in a three-game series, starting Friday at 6 p.m. CT, streamed on SEC Network Plus. The team’s next games include matchups against North Alabama and Texas, with the schedule available on the school’s athletics website.
