Ole Miss Softball Shuts Out Central Arkansas 5-0

CONWAY, Ark. — The Ole Miss softball team secured its second consecutive shutout with a 5-0 victory over Central Arkansas on Wednesday night at Farris Field at Natalie Shock Stadium, according to a school release.

Freshman Cassie Reasner led the Rebels offensively, homering for the second straight day. Persy Llamas contributed three hits and an RBI, helping Ole Miss improve to 25-15 overall and 2-10 in SEC play. The Bears fell to 23-15 and 5-4 in the ASUN.

Senior Kyra Aycock and Emilee Boyer combined for seven scoreless innings on the mound. Aycock retired the first three batters in the first inning and generated seven groundouts through three frames. She also preserved the shutout in the fifth inning, finishing her night after five scoreless innings. Boyer worked around a sixth-inning single to keep the Bears off the scoreboard.

The Rebels took control in the second inning, with Reasner homering on the first pitch she saw. Ole Miss added to its lead in the fifth, with RBI singles from Kennedy Bunker and Llamas and a groundout from Mackenzie Pickens. Bunker nearly hit a home run in the seventh before settling for a double, then scored on Pickens’ RBI single to cap the scoring.

Ole Miss will return to action Tuesday at home against Samford, with game time set for 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
