Ole Miss Softball Hosts UT Martin Doubleheader on Tuesday

The Ole Miss softball team will host UT Martin in a doubleheader Tuesday at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi. The first game is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT, with the second following about 40 minutes after the conclusion of the opener. Both games will be streamed on SEC Network Plus, according to school officials.

The Rebels, with a 16-5 record and 0-0 in Southeastern Conference play, aim to build momentum before starting SEC competition. They face the Skyhawks, who are 12-7 and 0-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference, in their final non-conference games before SEC matchups begin.

Freshman Madi George has emerged as a standout for Ole Miss, batting .450 with seven home runs and 13 walks through 21 games. Sophomore Persy Llamas, also performing at a high level, sports a .425 batting average, four homers, and 20 RBIs. Llamas leads the team with 31 hits and has been instrumental in the Rebels’ offensive success.

The Ole Miss pitching staff has been dominant lately, holding opponents to three runs or fewer in each of the past 11 games — the longest streak since 2023. Senior Emilee Boyer surpassed 500 career strikeouts last weekend, adding to her notable collegiate achievements. Senior Kyra Aycock has been a key contributor, ranking eighth nationally with eight wins and ranking in the SEC’s top 10 for complete games.

The Rebels are in the midst of a 10-game home stretch that leads into the start of SEC play, which begins with a series against Alabama from March 6-8. Their schedule features challenging opponents, including Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, during the opening weeks of conference action.

Last season, Ole Miss launched its 2025 campaign with a series victory over then-No. 10 Arkansas. Returning star Persy Llamas has continued her offensive prowess in 2026, batting .425 with four home runs and 20 RBIs. Her postseason heroics and all-SEC recognition have drawn national attention.

Freshman Madi George has quickly made a name for herself, leading the team in home runs, walks, and slugging percentage. She is following a path similar to that of Llamas, who had a successful freshman season last year.

Pitcher Lilly Whitten made Ole Miss history on Feb. 13, becoming the sixth Rebel to throw a solo no-hitter, joining a select group of program legends. She has posted a 4-0 record with a 1.71 ERA this season. Meanwhile, Mackenzie Pickens continues to be a key player, batting .355 with six home runs and 24 RBIs so far in 2026, after a standout 2025 season.

UT Martin, led by coach Chelsea Farmer in her third season, enters the game with a 12-7 record. The Skyhawks have notable offensive contributors like senior Avary Makarewicz, who is batting .414 with four home runs and 21 RBIs. The team also boasts speed on the bases, with players like Karena Recrosio and Kennedy Brown excelling in stolen bases. The Skyhawks’ pitching rotation has shown early success, with several pitchers maintaining ERAs below 3.70.
