Ole Miss Softball Hosts UAB to End Homestand
The University of Mississippi softball team concludes its five-game home stretch Wednesday with a matchup against UAB. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT and will be streamed on SEC Network Plus, according to school officials.
Ole Miss enters the game with a 20-14 record and an 0-9 mark in Southeastern Conference play. The Blazers hold a 12-20 record and are also 0-9 in American Athletic Conference games, according to the school’s release.
Junior Cassie Reasner, who hit .500 over four games last week, leads the Rebels offensively. Freshman Madi George has been a standout this season, batting .402 with nine home runs and 19 walks through 34 games. Sophomore Persy Llamas is hitting .378 with five home runs and 27 RBIs, while Taylor Roman has contributed offensively during SEC play.
Ole Miss has hit 40 home runs in 2026, setting a program record last season with 67 in 63 games. The team’s defense has also been a focus, with a 13-3 record when no errors are committed. The Rebels face a challenging schedule, including games against top-ranked opponents, as part of their non-conference and SEC schedules.
UAB’s team, under second-year coach Taylor Smartt, has struggled recently but remains competitive. The Blazers have a .300-plus batting average from four starters, led by senior Ashlyn Shirah (.313) and junior Hannah Dorsett (.321). Their pitching rotation includes Olivia Cummings and Caitlin Russell, who have ERAs of 3.46 and 2.83, respectively, according to team stats.
Ole Miss continues its tough schedule with upcoming games against No. 4 Tennessee and other top teams. The Rebels are also recognized nationally; three players received rankings in Softball America’s March Position Power Rankings, including George, Llamas, and Mackenzie Pickens.
