Ole Miss Softball Defeats CSUN 10-1 in Six Innings at Easton Classic

FULLERTON, Calif. — The University of Mississippi softball team secured a 10-1 victory over Cal State Northridge in six innings Saturday at Anderson Family Field. The Rebels, now 3-2 overall, were led offensively by Persy Llamas and Cassie Reasner, each recording a home run and multiple RBIs, according to game statistics.

Kyra Aycock pitched a strong game for Ole Miss, allowing only one run over six innings. She also struck out four batters, helping to keep the Matadors off balance throughout the game, the team said.

The Rebels’ offense was active early, with singles from Tenly Grisham, Taylor Malvin, and Mackenzie Pickens in the third inning. Malvin scored on a wild pitch, tying the game at 1-1. Reasner’s solo home run in the same inning put Ole Miss ahead for good.

In the fifth inning, Ole Miss extended its lead with a three-run blast from Llamas, who drove in three RBIs. The team added to its lead in the sixth, with Llamas driving in two more runs with a single. Reasner then cleared the bases with a double, ending the game with a final score of 10-1, the team reported.

The Rebels are scheduled to travel to Lafayette, Louisiana, for the Ragin’ Cajuns Invitational beginning Thursday. They will play McNeese in a doubleheader to start the tournament, according to their schedule.

Ole Miss continues to build momentum after recording 40 runs in five games this week, the most in program history through the first five games of a season, the team added.
