Ole Miss Rifle Sets Program Record in Weekend Win Over Memphis

The University of Mississippi rifle team set a program record Sunday, scoring 2,390 in air rifle during a 4,740-4,723 win over Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee, according to the school’s athletics department.

The Rebels (9-2) did not fall below 4,700 in aggregate scoring this season and have reached the 4,740 threshold four times. Their top four shooters all scored at least 595, with an average of 597.5 points in the event.

Under first-year head coach Will Shaner, Ole Miss has posted its two highest air rifle scores in program history, tied its aggregate record once, and set a new smallbore record with 2,368 points at Murray State. The team is on a six-match winning streak in head-to-head competitions, the longest since the 2021-22 season.

Senior Audrey Gogniat led the team with a 1,192 total, including a 598 in air rifle, marking her seventh score over 1,180 this season. Gracie Dinh scored a 1,186 overall, highlighted by 52 consecutive bullseyes in air rifle, finishing with a 599—one point shy of a perfect score.

Jordan de Jesus added a 598 in air rifle, and Regan Diamond contributed a 595, helping Ole Miss secure the victory. Diamond’s final score clinched the program record, as she entered the last 10 shots with a 398 and finished with a career-best 595. The team’s previous record was 2,388, set last weekend at the PRC Tournament.

Ole Miss will compete in the NCAA qualifier on Feb. 21 in Oxford, Mississippi. The team’s strong season has included multiple scores above 4,730 and milestone achievements in smallbore and air rifle, according to the school.
