Ole Miss Rifle Set for Road Test Against Ohio State in Columbus

COLUBMUS, Ohio — No. 7 Ole Miss rifle is set to face Ohio State in a key road matchup Sunday morning. The competition begins at 8 a.m. CT, with the Rebels seeking to build momentum after their latest strong performance.

Ole Miss (6-2, 4-2 PRC) tied its program record with a 4,746 aggregate score last time out against Murray State. This marks the second time in the 2025 season that the Rebels have reached that score, the first being at the PRC Tournament in February 2025 in Ohio. The team faces Ohio State (3-6) for the second time as PRC opponents, having previously defeated the Buckeyes earlier this season.

Smallbore shooting begins at 8 a.m. CT, with only one relay scheduled for Ole Miss to determine the outcome. The Rebels are led by Gracie Dinh, who recently set personal bests in smallbore (596), air rifle (600), and aggregate (1,196) against Murray State. Dinh became the third Rebel in program history to shoot a perfect 600 in air rifle, an achievement only matched twice previously by her teammates.

Ole Miss’s recent performances have been historic. The team scored 4,744 at TCU, its second-highest mark ever, and was ranked No. 1 by the CRCA for the first time since 2022. The Rebels also posted their largest victory margin since 2024, with a 67-point win over UTEP.

Head coach Will Shaner, in his first season leading the Rebels, has guided the team to a top national ranking and several record-breaking performances. A former Olympian and NCAA champion, Shaner was promoted after two seasons as assistant coach. Under his leadership, Ole Miss has achieved significant milestones, including its first No. 1 ranking in nearly two years.

The team features strong individual performances from shooters like Audrey Gogniat, who won the 2025 NCAA air rifle championship, and Dinh, who has multiple perfect scores. The Rebels hold a prominent position in the PRC rankings, with four conference teams in the top 10 nationally.
