Ole Miss Rifle Qualifies for Sixth Consecutive NCAA Tournament

The University of Mississippi rifle team has earned its sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA Rifle Championship, the school announced Monday during the selection show. The Rebels finished the regular season with a 10-2 record and placed second in the Patriot Rifle Conference Tournament.

Ole Miss qualified with an average team aggregate score of 4743.3 during qualifying matches. The team will compete March 13-14 at Ohio State’s Converse Hall in Columbus, Ohio, seeking its first national title since 2020-21.

The Rebels advanced after defeating Memphis in the NCAA qualifier, 4738-4703. The victory marked their 10th win of the season, continuing a streak of two consecutive seasons with double-digit wins. The team has also set program records this season, including top scores in air rifle (2390 and 2388), a best smallbore score of 2368, and tying its highest aggregate record of 4746 against Murray State.

Ole Miss’s success has been led by standout sophomores Audrey Gogniat and Gracie Dinh. Gogniat ranks fourth nationally in aggregate average, while Dinh is ninth. Both have shot perfect 600s in air rifle this season. Dinh’s 1196 in a match against Murray State is the second-highest individual score in program history, just behind Gogniat’s 1197. Gogniat, who defended her conference title with a perfect score at the PRC Tournament, is also the first athlete to shoot perfect scores in both a conference championship and NCAA Tournament in consecutive years.

Last season, Ole Miss finished fourth overall at the NCAA Tournament, with Gogniat claiming the individual national title. The team’s continued success positions them as a strong contender for this year’s national championship.
