Ole Miss Rifle Finishes Third in Smallbore at PRCs; Dinh Earns Individual Bronze
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The University of Mississippi rifle team finished third in the smallbore competition at the Patriot Rifle Conference on Saturday, with sophomore Gracie Dinh earning the bronze medal among individuals, according to tournament results.
Ole Miss scored 2,357 points in the event, the eighth-highest team score in program history. Nebraska took the team title, with TCU finishing second. The Rebels’ strong showing marks their second consecutive top-three finish in the conference smallbore event, following Audrey Gogniat’s first-place finish last season.
Ole Miss opened the day with Gogniat, Susan Carter, and Regan Diamond. Gogniat led the effort with 593 points, finishing first in the preliminary relay and tying for second in qualifying. Diamond contributed 590 points, tying her career best, while Carter added 569. Dinh and Jordan de Jesus rounded out the team’s scoring after intermission, with scores of 590 and 584, respectively.
Both Gogniat and Dinh advanced to the shoot-off by finishing in the top eight. Dinh led all scorers after the initial 15 shots in the final, holding a narrow lead over TCU’s Katie Zaun. Although Zaun surpassed her in the second half, Dinh secured the bronze medal on her final shot, narrowly edging Nebraska’s Carley Seabrooke.
The team will conclude the tournament Sunday with the air rifle event, starting at 7 a.m. CT, featuring two relays to determine the overall champion.
