Ole Miss Rifle Finishes Second at PRCs; Gogniat Claims Individual Gold in Air Rifle

Fort Wayne, Ind. — The University of Mississippi rifle team placed second overall at the Patriot Rifle Conference Tournament, with a strong team performance and individual honors. Audrey Gogniat led the Rebels by defending her conference title in air rifle, scoring a 251.8 in the medal round, surpassing competitors from Alaska Fairbanks and TCU, according to team sources.

Gogniat’s qualifying score of 1193 included her third career 600 in air rifle. She also tied her school record with 58 center shots and became the eighth student in Ole Miss history to record a perfect score in the discipline. Her efforts helped the Rebels achieve a team score of 2,388 in air rifle, tying a school record set since the 2021-22 season.

Ole Miss’s aggregate score was 4,745, the third-highest in program history. The team was just behind Nebraska, which took gold with a score of 4,758. The Rebels tied TCU in aggregate but earned silver by shooting more center shots, according to the school’s sports information.

In individual competition, Gogniat scored a perfect 600 in the first relay, leading her teammates Regan Diamond (597) and Gracie Dinh (596). Diamond posted a career-best score, finishing 13th overall. Gogniat’s performance made her Ole Miss’ only two-time conference champion in any event and its only two-time winner in air rifle.

Ole Miss returns to Oxford to face Memphis on Feb. 14, then again on the road the following day. The team’s coach, Will Shaner, noted that the team has set multiple program records this season, including the best smallbore score and highest aggregate score in history.
